Happy Hours
Beer:10:00pm-12:00am: Mon-Fri
I get why people don't like spending $5 a pint. Especially in a town full of people who would rather fork over $1.50 to swill down a can of PBR!!! I'll never understand that.
First off, if you want quick service, try drinking at the bar. Personally, I've always had great service, especialy after becoming known by the bartenders. Second, if you sign up for the Rogue Nation card, which is free, you will save .75 a pint, not a lot, but it helps. Third, paying $2-3 somewhere else for a 4-5% alcohol beer that has no taste, versus $4-5 for a 7-8% beer at Rogue that tastes outstanding ... really not that bad of a deal.
Obviously, I am a big fan. If you are willing to join the nation, and belly up to the bar, and meet some of the great bartenders (Mike, and Biscuit are two of my favorite 'tenders) you will no doubt have a great time and taste some exceptional brews!
03-Jul-08Great beer, but expensive. I have found the food to be good, and had the Kobe beef blue cheese bacon burger as my last birthday meal. Quite delicious. This pub is little on the expensive side, but worth it for a once in a while venture. Service can be a little slow, but the place is usually busy in the evenings.
03-Jul-08Rogue is perhaps the worst brew pub in all of Portland! It's hard work to take that honor but they do it with the grace of a lunchtime bully who takes your lunch money and then punches you in the gut. Don't get me wrong great beer just don't get it from the pub. The horrible service comes from lack of servers and terrible management. Long waits and cold food are all I have ever experienced at this debacle. Way to ruin great beer!
01-May-08Our server was horrible and the beer is $5 but I have to agree with the previous comment, Rogue beer is pretty good. The atmosphere was nice. Just expect to chase down your server at some point in time. I'd still go there.
I recently went with my parents and we got great service. I change my previous review. Bring people who look like they will tip good and it is a great place!
I've been boycotting this place for years. $5 for a pint? Come on. If they truly serve their pints for $2 during lunch, that would be worth it, but otherwise, there are far better deals on beer that is just as good elsewhere. Maybe they could justify their pricing if the service, food, and atmosphere were above average, but they aren't.
13-Mar-07Sure, it is can be expensive and the service is poor, but you simply can't get some of these beers unless you drive to Newport (and who wants to do that?). The Mocha Porter on tap is life-changing (as are about a dozen other Rogue beers).
29-Jan-07This place would be an excellent brew pub if it wasn't for the poor service. It once took me 37 minutes to get my first beer. If you want a great craft beer try BridgePort down the street or the Lucky Lab in NW.
